Review:

This Argentine formation (Virus Master if you read their name from right to left) is rooted in 2002. Soon Retsam Siruv participated in several progressive festivals in the era of the capital Buenos Aires but not until 2007 the band started to work on their debut album that was finally released in 2009 entitled Exesegys with a worldwide distribution by known progrock labels, from French Musea and Japanese Poseidon to Brasilian Rock Symphony and Mexican Luna Negra. At this moment Retsam Siruv is presenting their debut album in different countries all over the world and preparing material for their second effort. -

The beating heart of Retsam Siruv is female singer Vilma Del Giorgio (she has a wide range and puts a lot of emotion into the music) and keyboard player Christian Del Giorgio (his spectacular sound reminds me of fellow Latin-Americans Jaime Rosas Cuartetto and Entrance from Chile), on this debut CD they are supported by 3 different musicians on guitar, bass and drums in the first four songs and the other five songs, 5 tracks are instrumental. In general Retsam Suriv delivers dynamic symphonic rock with heavy/metallish guitar work and bombastic keyboards, often supported by a thunderous rhythm-section like in the long tracks Lombardia (exciting accellarations and flashy synthesizer runs) and Osmosis, the climate is pretty close to ‘over the top’ progrock but how thrilling if you like that kind of music! At some moments the music turns into mellow and dreamy with sensitive, Gilmourian inspired guitar (like in Lombardia), tender Grand piano and soaring keyboards. As a huge fan of Seventies Queen I am very pleased with Retsam Surive their tribute to Freddy Mercury entitled Lluvia De Estrallas, a beautiful song with a strong build-up and a fiery guitar solo. -

I am very curious to the future of Retsam Suriv, their start is very promising and recommended to fans who love harder-edged symphonic rock and elaborate prog-metal. Let’s hope Retsam Suriv will not turn into another fine new Latin-American one-shot-band like Angulart, Seti, Pig Farm On The Moon, Sleepwalker Sun or Spin XXI.
