Review:

Surprisingly, this is the third album, but the first in 5 years, by this German foursome of lovely ladies Meli, vocals, and Nadine, bass, and lusty lads Dominik, guitar, and Daniel, drums. They produce major label catchy pop alt-metal, hovering around Cryoshell, Lacuna Coil, Sirenia and Evanescence, mixed with The Bangles thanks to those pop hooks and Meli's voice. In fact I had to double check that they were German and not American, which begs the question, why aren't they better known outside their homeland? They have certainly been able to duck under the Ravenradar™ until now, but we're metal's answer to the Mounties, we always get our woman. Fave's include the Within Temptation'ish opener 'On My Own', the Sirenia esque 'Calling Out For Me', 'Sleeping Beauty' with its hint of Fleetwood Mac, the Evanescence like 'Stay', the anthemic title track 'Winterlove' and the groovy Lacuna Coil meets The Bangles 'Too Late' (video on Female Voices blog), but all the songs are very strong and immaculately produced. You will certainly be livid if you miss out on this halcyon release which is widely available on download and CD's can be purchased at their website http://www.livid-halcyon.de/ , a radiant 8.5 out of 10.
